A baptism question for Morbidzbaby (and the rest of ya'll).....
by Mr. Falcon ini read morbidzbaby's comment on the post http://www2.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/206838/1/a-question-to-the-ex-jws were she said that she got baptized "hoping that it would sort everything out".
this got me thinking about the whole jw ritual of baptism and dedication.
i look back and recall that i never privately "dedicated" myself to anything or anyone before taking the "dip".. the wt teaching is that a person should privately dedicate (via prayer) themselves to jehovah before publically going through the ritual.

A suggestion for the next edition of Shepherd The Flock...
by Mr. Falcon inhow wonderful would it be to put this handy little guide in the elder's manual..... this is for all of you guys who have had to sit through an elder's, co, convention, rbc, whatever meeting and there's 500 "brothers" asking the stupidest questions ever.. .

Live Action Role-Playing coming to a Family Worship Night near you!
by Mr. Falcon inlately, i have seen demonstrations and interviews on stage of guys who are bragging about how they incorporate dressing up in costume and reinacting bible accounts for their family worship night.. .
family worship evening: serious business.
this kind of bafoonary and other assorted silliness is encouraged to make family worship "fun and enjoyable".

Get to the point!
by Mr. Falcon intwo jehovah's witnesses walk up to a house and knock on the door.
a younger man wearing a t-shirt with all kinds of swirl-patterns on it (think tie-dye, but not quite) answers the door and the first jw goes into his presentation.
he is offering the watchtower on the "occult" (cue spooky music).

Hurry up with your personal study, it's almost time for your beating!
by Mr. Falcon infrom time to time we read faith-strengthening experiences of brothers and sisters who undergo ferocious persecution while maintianing their integrity.
even when faced with torture and death, these valiant martyrs "hold fast" to the source of their real strength, which is......... .......watchtower publications???.
here's a gem that was shared with me, and now i have the honor of relating it to you all.

What so bad about having a "clergy"?
by Mr. Falcon innote: again, i apologize if this topic has been already discussed previously.. among the many practices and professed beliefs that i have been indoctrinated into believing my entire life, there is a few in particular that have really made me scratch my head.
and this would be the claim that jehovah's witnesses do not have a clergy.
if i'm correct i think this is printed outright in a recent public edition of the watchtower regarding the beliefs of witnesses.

Just something I've noticed that makes me wonder...
by Mr. Falcon ini have found it very odd how much in-fighting and back-biting go on among certian boe's.. and it's rather strange that several (not all) of them will vent to me about how they can't stand this one, or they think this other one is out of line, or that elder's wife talks too much, etc.
or they whine about how many elder meetings they have to go to, or how they are frustrated because they have to deal with sister loudmouth-who-pisses-off-everyone-else.. and i sit there wondering why they would ever want to continue to do this job?
it's thankless, offers no compensation, rips you away from your family, and forces you to rub shoulders with company men and puts you in a position where you have to render judgement on someone with little or no understanding of what the psychological consequences to that person could be.

How do I get them to leave me alone?
by Mr. Falcon inwhy does every ex-elder who went through so much turmoil while being an elder always whine to me about how much it sucked, yet when i mention that i don't want to be one, they suddenly get all nostalgic and tell me what a blessing it is to serve as an e-man?.
elder.. period.. maybe i might have a change of heart one day if they actually require these men to have some sort of actual psychological/communication training or if they start handing out paychecks.
but until then, i respectfully decline.. .
